THE RESTAURANT

Owners Vince and Jennifer Potter along with Executive Chef Andrew Culgin have created a truly unique restaurant. Curious Thymes Bistro offers carefully selected items that appeal to all tastebud’s from Caesar salads and Chicken Marsala to Wild Kangaroo and Sea Urchin. The restaurant is also fully licensed and offers a wild selection of beers and cocktails. The restaurant also offers Thyme for Tea, with over 30 different teas to choose from.

Whether you’re looking to have a great thyme with friends or a quiet dinner for 2 come on in to Curious Thymes and let us satisfy your tastebud’s.

Jennifer and Vince Potter ~ Owners
Jennifer and Vince Potter are excited to offer Sudbury a new healthy place to eat. Inspired by the want to provide something fresh and unique, only the finest herbs and highest quality foods are served at Curious Thymes Bistro. When you visit Curios Thymes you will find that there are no deep fried foods on the menu, this comes from a choice to offer a healthy dining experience to the guests.

Jennifer grew up in Sudbury, then went on to Canadore College in North Bay to study Hospitality Administration. Jennifer then spent a few years in Jasper Alberta at the Jasper Park Lodge, starting as a server then progressing to assistant Maitre D’ in the Meadows Cafe and Beauvert Dining room. She then moved to the UK for several years to expand her knowledge and experiences. This is where she and Vince met.

Vince attended Teesside College as well as the University of Birmingham to study undergrad International Hospitality Business Management. As part of his degree Vince also received his 706-1 basic chef training, his 706-2 chef papers and his 706-3 pastry chef papers. He has opened restaurants such as the alfresco dining in the Royal opera House, National Portrait Gallery Fine Dining Restaurant over looking Trafalgar Square London and many others.

Together, this power team has created one of the most unique restaurants Sudbury has. They have a great team helping to support them and all they want to offer to the North. We invite you to come in and meet Jennifer and Vince along with their staff.

Andrew Culgin ~ Executive Chef
Andrew Culgin graduated from the apprenticeship program from Cambrian College as a Cambrian Scholar. Andrew also has 17 year experience in the restaurant business with makes him a wonderful addition to the Curious Thymes team. Andy joined the Curious Thymes team to be part of an restaurant opening from the ground up and to see all of the challenges and embrace them. Andy loves to BBQ for his wife Dawn and daughter Willow along with their many friends.

Kimberly Mitchell ~ Supervisor
Kim is a graduate of the Hotel, Restaurant, Resort Management Course from Canadore College in North Bay however her experience also is from working at her Mother's Jazz house! Kim is excited to be living in Sudbury and being part of this new exciting venture. She has a dream of opening her own place within 5 years and thought what better way to gain experience than to be part of a new concept from day one. Kim was interviewed back in January and accepted the job while vacationing in the Dominican. She has quickly proved her skill set to become the first Supervisor promoted within the Team. She has the work commitment, drive and knowledge to deliver on the extra challenges thrown her way by the owners. Kim has enjoyed taking on the role of assisting with creating the loose leaf tea gift baskets for sale, working on the Curious Thyme's Cook Book due out at Christmas Time while training new Team members! Kim has a dog named Digger and just recently purchased a house with Brent her partner of 4 years. "Live well. Laugh often. Love Much - Life is too short to hold grudges"

Kathryn Lajeunesse ~ Supervisor/ server
Kathryn Lajeunesse has 9 years of serving experience behind her. She also completed 3years at Cambrian College for Physical Fitness and Leisure Management. Katie plans on returning to Cambrian College to complete more courses. She joined the Curious Thymes team to gain new experiences. Katie lives in lively with her mom and niece. Her dream is to have her own puppy and home in the next 2 years. "Happiness is a choice."

Jeff Grenier ~ Cook
Jeff Grenier is a trained chef from Cambrian College and also has 9years of experience in food service. After not making it as a professional musician Jeff needed an outlet to unleash his creative flare. He says plating and building creative dishes is his passion. Jeff joined the Curious Thymes team to be part of something new and to bring exciting new creations to Sudbury customers. Jeff would like to be an executive chef at the fine dinning restaurant or to perhaps own one. "Relax! In the end it all works out."

Devin Chisholm ~ Cook/Apprentice Chef
Devin Chisholm has completed his chef training certificate from Cambrian College and is a registered apprentice with the ministry of training under Chef Andrew Culgin. After hearing Vince and Andrew’s ideas for the restaurant, Devin knew that this was an establishment he wanted to work for. Devin has just purchased a home with his girlfriend Erika. When asked about his future plans he said they are "top secret."

Leia Blake ~ Server
Leia Blake joined Curious Thymes Bistro to try something new. Having a background in nursing, and plenty of experience in customer service, Leia decided to take her love for people to a new industry and try serving. From working at Curious Thymes Leia has learned what teamwork can accomplish as well as the accomplishments possible when a group has a common goal.

Erika McDonald ~ Server
Erika McDonald is in her second year at Laurentian University for Behavioral Neuroscience. After completing her education Erika would like to pursue a career in psychiatry or psychology. Erika joined the team at Curious Thymes because she felt it would be a great place to work.

Dave Temmerman ~ Cook
Dave Temmerman has 15 years of cooking experience and will be starting a two year apprenticeship at Cambrian College this September. Dave joined Curious Thymes to be part of the "best restaurant in town." He says that while working at Curious Thymes he as learned not to be afraid of experimenting with flavours and ingredients. "If you’re not going to do a good job, don’t bother getting up in the morning."

Jordan Battison ~ Server
Jordan Battison is in her final year at Laurentian University for BSC Geology. Jordan joined Curious Thymes because she felt it would be a perfect place to work because it is so close to the University. Jordan moved to Sudbury from Brampton with her family when she was younger. "When life gives you lemons, throw them back."

Deron Britt ~ Cook
Deron Britt will be attending the Chef training program at Cambrian College this fall. Deron has 3 years of kitchen experience and is looking forward to expanding his knowledge and skills as a cook. When he has completed his Training, Deron looks forward to becoming an executive chef at a tropical location. Deron says that while working a Curious Thymes, he has learned that creativity and individuality as a chef can become a great asset with will help you to meet your full potential. "Just keep swimming, just keep swimming."

Thea Naponse ~ Server
Thea Naponse joined the Curious Thymes team to gain new experience the restaurant industry. Over the new few years, She plans on attending Cambrian College for the Hotel and Restaurant Management program. Thea says the things she enjoys the most about Curious Thymes are her coworkers, the organization of the business, and having a non stressful work environment.
"To love someone, you must love yourself."

Justin Chaumont ~ Cook/Dishwasher
Justin Chaumont joined Curious Thymes Bistro so he could learn to cook new foods. He has experience in the restaurant industry from working at places such as Casey’s, Timberwolf Golf course and more. He will be finishing high school this year and has plans to attend college afterwards. Justin says that the best part of working at the Bistro is learning to cook new foods and the fun and stress free work environment.
